With my feelings on fire
Guess I'm a bad liar
Speaking with Gabriel had proved to be a successful and wise endeavour. Not only did he agree to come over as soon as he could arrange transport, he soothed Cassidy's haywire thoughts with reassurances and pop culture references a plenty. Gabriel was such a cool guy and Cassidy understood why James and Will trusted him. He advised her on how to break it to Will and assured her that he will be over as soon as he knew Will was done with his wallowing.
Gabriel kept reassuring her that if he did run, it would have nothing to do with her. She was tempted to believe him, of course, but she had her own neuroses to deal with. She could psyche herself up all she wanted but until she actually went through it, she wouldn't be able to gauge her own toxic anxiety level.
On the day she had decided to tell Will about the pregnancy, her hands wouldn't stop shaking and she had thrown up three times, which she didn't even know was from her anxieties or from the pregnancy. Either way, she was sure it wasn't healthy for the baby, being this stressed out. She just didn't want Will to leave her because of the baby. She loved Will with all her heart and she knew Will wouldn't be so callous as to ask her to get rid of it but in the event that he did, Cassidy believed that she would sooner let him go than the baby.
Talking to Gabriel and James had helped ease her anxieties some but it didn't get rid of it all. Her thoughts were heavily influenced by those anxieties however, so she didn't know how deep into the pit she would go if Will decided to do away with her and the baby inside her.
Surprisingly, as she drove over to Will's apartment, she wasn't crying. Her resolve didn't seem to allow her. Which was a good thing because she needed her wits about her when she faced her partner. At his apartment, she used her key to open the door and walked in. Finding Will on the couch with a book, she smiled and took a moment to just watch him, still unaware of her presence. She let the door go and it closed with a soft click. "Hey handsome." She announced as she stepped in further into the apartment.

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
To say that Will had been sulking over the last month was an understatement. After returning from England, everything had seemed pretty much great. The girl he was in love with loved him back, his siblings weren't being unbearably cruel, he felt better than he had in years. Everything just seemed to begin to fit into place and while he was still very aware of his mortality and the fact that the end was closing in, he allowed himself that tiny shred of happiness because it was all he'd had in his twenty-five years of living.
And then a bomb got dropped on his happiness when his best friend uprooted himself and relocated back to where they'd initially came from. Oregon wasn't a terrible place, he had to admit he'd even go so far as to say he'd enjoyed it there. A large part of that came from the fact that he met his best friend of over a decade there and he'd left Oregon to follow Gabriel to Montana. To find out on such short notice was familiar, not because it had happened to him before, but because he'd seen Gabriel do it to someone else that loved him. At the time, it had been sad, sure, but Will wasn't as affected by it as he was this time. In all honesty, he was holding fast to this grudge he had against his best friend, refusing to talk to him directly and rather going through his phone calls with Cassidy.
In order to distract himself, he spent most of the time working on school and reading as much as he could. It did little to ease his troubled mind, but there were small breaks of relief when he felt the irritation slip away. Most of the time it came from the visits to his apartment from his girlfriend. Will had given her a key shortly after coming back to Montana and since then he'd highly considered asking her to just move in with him. It wasn't as though he didn't have the space and if she hated his apartment he had the money to get another that was better suited to them. He was growing tired of being apart from her at night and in the mornings every few days, but he was aware that she enjoyed her space. He flipped the page to his book just as the very subject of his thoughts spoke.
Will lifted his eyes from the book and grinned. After placing a marker in it, he set the book on the table in front of him and got up to greet her properly. Winding his arms around her waist once he was in front of her, he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers, breathing her nickname against them, "Angel." He pulled back, his hand reaching up to brush a strand of hair back from her face, "I thought we had plans later? I was just catching up on some reading."

The grin on Will's face warmed Cassidy's cheeks. It was still so goddamned refreshing to see Will happy. And for her to be the cause of it made her feel so empowered. It was just too bad that she was about to turn his life around with this piece of news.
Cassidy melted into his arms as he wrapped them around her. With their lips pressed to each other, she sighed softly, smiling at the endearment he had given her. It still amused her that it had once been used in a derisive tone.
She leaned into his touch, her hand curling around his wrist before she turned her head to kiss the inside of his hand. Her blue eyes raised to meet his and she pulled his hand down, quietly pulling him to his bed and tugged him down to sit beside her. "We did but...we have to talk." She said, not looking at him. After a brief moment of hesitation, she released his hand, placing it on his lap as she folded her own hands on her lap.
"I'm pregnant, Will."

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
That she pulled him directly to his bedroom meant one of two things, either she was insatiable and couldn't wait until later for their sexual encounters or she had something to discuss with him. Ironically, they'd had a lot of serious conversations in the comfort of his bedroom and most of which had ended poorly. He tended not to linger on the second thought and was prepared to embrace the first, but she seemed distracted, too distracted to want to have sex with him right then and there. Will's eyebrows pulled together and his face twisted at the four words that he hated strewn together, 'we need to talk.' It never ended well for him when that phrase was used because typically he was in trouble or he got himself into trouble during the talk. It wasn't that way with just Cassidy, it was that way with anyone. Talking never did him much good unless he was on the verge of extreme happiness or when he was professing his love to the only girl that he'd ever seen that way. His thumb brushed across the top of her hand and he waited for whatever topic she was planning to reveal. Part of him wondered if it was about Gabriel and the way he was sulking, but that part quickly vanished by the next three words out of her mouth after she released his hand. It felt like he was having an out of body experience. Like he was just watching the scene from high above, that was the cliche they used right? His mind was reeling, settled on the word that had just changed his whole life, or rather what was left of it. His hands started shaking so he clenched them into fists and without a word, he stood up abruptly. Leaving was his only option, getting away to process. It felt like the walls of his bedroom were closing in on him and he thought he might suffocate to death if he didn't leave. Will knew it was a bad idea, that he should have said something, he should have done something comforting, but his head was spinning and he felt like he was going to pass out. Swiftly and with little hesitation, he grabbed his jacket that was draped over his desk chair and made a beeline for the door. Before he would have just walked out, but given that he'd done such a number on her by doing it so many times, he paused at the doorway, "I'll...just...I'll be back. You can stay here." Not even a second later and he was at the door, yanking it open and shutting it harshly behind himself. Will hated his own reaction, knowing that it was coming off as though he were mad at her or something, but he wasn't. He wasn't mad at all. He was just terrified and he didn't know what he was going to do. So he did what any good Spencer man did when he had serious matters to handle...he drank heavily. *** It was a couple of hours later before he made his way stumbling back to his apartment. With as intoxicated as he was, he could just thank his lucky stars that he wasn't the drunk that forgot where his own apartment was. His hand on the doorknob slipped a few times before he finally managed to open it and he stepped in, taking a few side glances, "Heh. Made it!"

Cassidy felt the atmosphere in the room shift drastically the moment her words left her mouth. Will getting up and leaving drained the energy in her, leaving her cold and miserable. Even though James and Gabriel had told her this would happen and that he would eventually come home, the moment the door closed, Cassidy's tears fell freely.
One hand slid over her stomach and she debated leaving as well and she almost did if not for her phone ringing. It was Gabriel to tell her that he was an hour away from descending. Gabriel immediately picked up on her distress and reassured her that everything was going to be fine. He let her cry for as long as she did, and eventually he started to talk to her about everything but Will.
He talked her out of leaving and she occupied her hands by cleaning up the already clean apartment. By the time Will stumbled in, drunk like she'd never seen before, Gabriel jokingly told her he told her so and got off the phone. "Be strong, cupcake. I'll be there tomorrow, okay?"
Cassidy switched off her phone and put down the last glass she had been drying and stared at Will as he giggled to himself. She wanted to be angry with him but the relief she felt overwhelmed her to the point of tears. She wiped them and waited for Will to be aware of her presence instead of going to him immediately.

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
Blitzed as Will was, he hadn't forgotten what was said before he left. Try as he may to numb his mind, it tended to work over time when he was drunk as well, there was just no escaping it. The whole bar of people had heard his ramblings about his girlfriend being pregnant. Many of them congratulated him and bought him a drink, perhaps it was an asshole thing to do, accepting their free booze given that he'd reacted so poorly to the news himself, but it had gotten him drunk faster and more efficiently.
He took a few steps into the apartment, doing his best not to trip over his own feet. The beast instead him was lulled to sleep about five shots in and he'd stayed because he wasn't sure how else to face her after he left that way. This was the gist of his fears when it came to raising a child. He was a mess and the first year children were so heavily reliant on their parents. How unfair would it be for Cassidy to have to babysit both of them because Will wasn't sure if he'd be able to do much of anything in his last year alive? And how fair was it that his child wouldn't know him later on? He'd kept his secret for so long, never expecting it to be such a problem for others. Will had been so good at pushing people away and the moment he let them in, he'd ruined their lives because his was going to end.
"Hiya, Angel," Will grinned and took a few more staggering steps so that he could reach her.

With my feelings on fire
Guess I'm a bad liar
If it were anybody else who had walked out on her, Cassidy wouldn't hesitate walking out herself. She had regrettably done it with her brother; for good reason, but Will...Will was different. Cassidy's feelings for Will and the little nugget growing in her was insurmountable. Her heart filled up with the kind of joy that burned bright and long. She found herself being able to forgive Will because she didn't want that joy to leave.
So as he staggered over to her, Cassidy closed the gap between them, a soft smile curving her lips at the endearment. She supported Will, pulling him over to the couch so he didn't have to deal with the pain he was inevitably going to feel in his head. Once he was on the couch, Cassidy pushed herself to the arm of the couch and leaned her back against it, folding her knees up under her chin. She didn't say anything as she looked at Will, wondering if she should just leave so Will didn't have to deal with her and the baby.
She still wasn't quite convinced that Will didn't want the baby or the responsibility that it brought along with it. Gabriel and James had done their job, reassuring her that Will just needed time but she still couldn't remove the sting of him leaving at all.

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
Even being drunk, Will was put off by the way she remained silent. He liked that she was nearby, but he wanted her closer. He wanted to hug her and kiss her and show her that he loved her. His words were going to fail him if he tried to express what he felt while he was drinking. As he sat on the couch, he felt sort of dizzy, the room was starting to spin and he was pretty sure he'd be getting very very sick later in the night. With all of that present in his mind, he was still concerned about the way Cassidy was acting.
Scooting closer to her, he stroked his fingers down her arm and leg, "This is how it starts," He mumbled. Will wasn't upset about the pregnancy, but he was upset because he was losing precious time with his girlfriend. As if he wasn't limited enough on it, now he had to share with this helpless little being and he'd never had to do that before. It was different than sharing attention between his parents because at that point he hadn't been quite as messed up. Now he had all of these problems to fess up to and nobody around to care about him. He was going to have to fight for her attention with his own child. And it probably wouldn't even like him.

With my feelings on fire
Guess I'm a bad liar
Watching him being affectionate, Cassidy couldn't help but reciprocate. Her own fingers reached out to run down the side of his face. A smile appeared on her lips and she just wanted to bring him close.
His words didn't make sense but she moved over to him, bringing his arms around her as she sat on his lap. She buried her face in the crook of his neck and sighed. "I'm so relieved you're back, Will." She sighed, pressing her lips on the side of his neck.
Cassidy knew she shouldn't be this forgiving to anyone who hurt her. Why was Will so damn different then? Why was it so damn difficult to pull away from him? All she wanted to do was be close to him. And every time she was, she felt loved. She felt safe. Like they had all the time in the world to just be.
And then he pulls this crap and she doesn't know anymore.

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
His arms easily settled around her and he rested his cheek against her head. It was all he wanted, to be close to her, to absorb the feeling of her skin and the warmth that always seemed to radiate off of her. He just wanted her all to himself and he struggled with making it known. What was he supposed to say when she told him? If she wanted the truth, he'd have told her that it wasn't fair because she was going to love it more than she loved him. That was how it should work, and how he knew it would work with Cassidy because she was nothing like his parents. So instead of telling her exactly how he felt and how pathetic he was, he ran because that's what he was good at. Running and drinking and burying it all under the rug.
But now that he was drunk and with his arms around her, he felt like the pregnancy was staring him in the face. Her stomach was still flat, but in his inebriated state, he felt like he could already see a bump forming. Will sighed and tugged at her shirt, not paying much attention to her, but rather focused on the baby that was growing and intruding on their time together. "We've got a little intruder. An intruder that's going to take its mommy away from me just like everything else gets taken from me." He leaned down and whispered, "She's going to love you more than me, you have nothing to worry about."
After pulling back, he erupted into a small bit of giggles, his head leaning back against the couch, lolling to the side. He was blitzed, completely and utterly blitzed. He had no hopes of remembering anything from the time he left the bar until now.

With my feelings on fire
Guess I'm a bad liar
When Will started speaking to her stomach, Cassidy covered her face with her hand. Her smile had spread and she found herself melting before she felt her heart breaking at his words. While she knew she was going to love her little nugget, Will was always going to be her first love. Nothing was going to change that. Her heart, she knew, was big enough for the both of them. That he thought the baby was going to take her away from him was absurd. Then again, he was drunk.
Him pulling back and breaking into giggles endeared Cassidy to him even more. Whatever anger and disappointment she had felt from before dissipated at the sight of him acting like a little kid. Cassidy sighed and curled back up in her corner. He looked like he was about to pass out and she wondered whether she should call Gabriel now or later.
"Go to sleep, Will." Cassidy called out quietly.

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
Will could feel the effects starting to take over. Alcohol had officially done its job and if he could think clearly, he'd have known he wasn't going to remember much of anything the next day. He'd remember the information that was said before, but he wouldn't remember the way that he was reacting and he wouldn't remember the words that had come out of his mouth. All he would know is that she's pregnant and that he was going to die.
She moved away from him and he pouted for a brief moment before his eyes started sliding shut. It didn't take very long for him to pass out and when he did, he curled up on his side on the couch, his mouth slack. There was nothing in his mind, just like he'd hoped for and the beast was still far too intoxicated to make any movements. He'd accomplished what he set out to do, but there was just no way of doing it every day, much as he'd want to.

With my feelings on fire
Guess I'm a bad liar
Cassidy watched Will passing out and sighed. How did she even fall in love with this dope, she would never know. She stayed in her position for a while longer before taking her phone out and and sending a message to Gabriel to tell him that Will was asleep. She didn't get an immediate text back so she assumed he was also asleep.
She took a deep breath before getting up and resuming her cleaning.
By the time she heard a ding from her phone, signaling a text, everything in the apartment was spotless. Counter tops practically gleamed in the sunlight and she checked her phone to find that it was Gabriel, telling her that they will be coming over in a couple of hours. She went over to Will and crouched beside him, pushing his hair out of his face and stroked his cheek softly. "I love you Will Spencer. This baby isn't changing anything except the fact that my love will grow. For you and the baby. I want so badly for you to accept that this life I have with you is what I want. What I've always wanted. You came back last night and I will always remember that. Don't ever leave me again. Please." She pressed her lips against his forehead and took his hand to hold it against her stomach. "This is us." She breathed in before letting his hand go.
She shook her head and wiped away the tears that had fallen before getting up to get a glass of cold water, painkillers and a bucket. She placed the water and pills on the coffee table while the bucket was placed on the floor by Will's face. She went to the bathroom to take a quick shower and changed before going to the kitchen to make breakfast.
Gabriel came a few minutes after breakfast was done cooking and with a quick hug, Cassidy went to the bedroom so Gabriel could speak to Will. Bailey was with him and followed Cassidy to the bedroom and closed the door. Cassidy introduced herself to Bailey before properly breaking down.
Sitting down on the couch, Gabriel looked at his best friend and sighed before shaking him awake. "Time to check back to reality, mate."

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
It had been a while since Will slept so soundly through the night. He hadn't resorted to drinking as often as he used to now that he had Cassidy. He hadn't dreamed, he hadn't thought, he was just out for the whole time, not paying any attention to the outside factors. Not even the smell of food could rouse him, nor could the sound of people entering his apartment, or Cassidy's cleaning. He had just slept through it all.
So to say he was irritable when he was woken up, was an understatement. Mostly because the person he woke up to was not his girlfriend. He let out a long groan as he was poked at and shook. Will pushed himself up reluctantly and was met with the most outrageous headache of his life. He almost thought that the cancer was back or something because he couldn't remember a pain more vicious. His palm pressed hard against his temple and he swore under his breath. After a moment of waiting until the room stopped spinning, he stood up and moved as far away from his best friend as he could.
Will's memory got flooded by Cassidy telling him that she was pregnant and as he stood there with his eyes squeezing shut, he put it all together. Of all the people for her to talk to about it, she'd chosen his best friend. The person that he wasn't speaking to because Gabriel decided to take a job several states away. Will hadn't even noticed Bailey with him, seeing as the door was shut to his bedroom. He crossed his arms across his chest and leaned against the wall, waiting for what he expected to come.

we jumped
never asking why
Gabriel knew what to anticipate the moment Will stirred awake. Him moving away didn't surprise him one bit. He relaxed against the couch, pulling one leg up to rest on his knee as he sat facing Will's direction.
"You better take those painkillers your girlfriend thoughtfully put out for you." Gabriel said, jerking his head in the direction of the glass of water and pills on a small saucer.
Part of the recruiter knew he shouldn't be so nonchalant. After all, this was the first time they were meeting since Gabriel moved to Oregon. Will had the tendency to hold a grudge like no other. On the other hand, he was here more for Cassidy than to hash whatever it was out with Will.
